December 19th, 2011: My first experience trying the “salad pizza” at Abott’s Pizza Company in Venice on Abbot Kinney. I live on the Eastside of LA but ventured out towards the beach for a Descendents show at the Civic Center with surprise guests—BLACK FLAG. My friends and I were already in the highest spirits ever, so we thought, why not keep the punk happy vibes alive and eat some pizza. Sick!
Abbot’s Pizza Co. is a tiny spot that touts itself as the “home of the bagel crust pizza.” Their pizza is beyond delicious, with just the perfect amount of chewiness and crunch. I got the token BBQ chicken pizza (which was amaze), recommended to me by someone that worked there with a perfectly dressed salad on top. It really was the best of both worlds. So check out this cute beach spot for pizza, salad, and hot surfer dads.
